So what's the big deal about barcodes?
Hi folks, I'm Grant. I have been a slave (a happy one) to the printing industry for the last 27 years and feel that I might have some useful information to share. One of the most common questions we get asked from our clients is 'how barcodes work?'. After telling them for years that we had no idea, I was finally sent off to really find out how everything worked. Sure enough, it was much more complicated that I had imagined. I spent a good 3 weeks trawling the net, getting stuck, confused and even more confused. Finally, though, I emerged with a decent idea of what is going on, I think :)
So I have slapped this site together so that I can just direct our clients to here rather than having to explain it in person every time. In truth, however, this info applies to everyone or anyone who is looking to get a barcode for their product. There is a lot out there, so I hope that this helps you to get a hang of things without having to do what I did. In the end the process is pretty simple if you know what you doing. Please enjoy and use the information freely. Please remember, though, that I am no world expert, I can only speak from my experiences in the printing industry in South Africa!
